Dilansir dari Xiaomi Time pada Minggu (22/12/2024), Uni Eropa mendesak Apple untuk mematuhi peraturan baru yang akan menawarkan interoperabilitas efektif yang lebih baik antarsistem. Dalam sebuah dokumen baru dari Komisi Eropa merinci beberapa perubahan besar yang terjadi pada iOS.
Perubahan tersebut meliputi dua hal. Pertama, membuka AirDrop. Saat ini, AirDrop hanya tersedia di iOS dan macOS. Namun, fitur tersebut dapat segera memperluas fungsinya ke Android. Uni Eropa ingin agar Apple memberikan spesifikasi protokol kepada pengembang luar sehingga dapat menambahkan fungsionalitas AirDrop.
Kedua, memperluas AirPlay. Meskipun saat ini beberapa TV dan beberapa perangkat non-Apple lainnya sudah mendukung AirPlay, Uni Eropa ingin Apple mengizinkan perangkat pihak ketiga menjadi pengirim AirPlay.

Jika Apple bersedia, perangkat Xiaomi yang menjalankan Android berpotensi memperoleh kemampuan untuk transfer file yang lancer antar perangkat iOS dan Xiaomi tanpa bergantung pada aplikasi pihak ketiga. Tak hanya itu, pengguna Xiaomi juga akan mendapatkan integrasi yang lebih baik untuk berbagi media secara lancer di seluruh ekosistem menggunakan AirPlay.
Dalam beberapa bulan terakhir, Apple menyuarakan berbagai peringatan terkait privasi dan keamanan, terutama yang berkaitan dengan data yang dibagikan antar iPhone menggunakan AirDrop atau yang dialirkan melalui AirPlay.
