Not Apple, Samsung still leads the global smartphone market

Bloomberg Technoz, Jakarta - Samsung Electronics Co Ltd continues to lead the electronics market through mobile phone (HP) or smartphone products, beating Apple Inc's market share with its iPhone series. Quoting from a report by Counterpoint Research, a global research institute that focuses on the technology, media and telecommunications industries, it is known that Samsung leads the global smartphone market with a percentage of 19% total market share shipments driven by the Galaxy A series in the third quarter of 2024. Although on an annual basis it fell compared to the previous period, reaching 20%, it still exceeded Apple's achievement which was recorded at 16%. Apple on an annual basis or year on year (yoy) still recorded growth but now its market share remains only 17% compared to Samsung. Even so, Apple still secured second place for global shipment growth thanks to the earlier launch of the iPhone 16 series in several countries such as Latin America, Europe, and several major countries in Asia.
